Spring Herbal Intensive
–The Intensive has been reformatted to include longer classes held during the
daytime. This will allow us more time in the garden and for walks on the
property. Classes are held at the home and gardens of the Austin School of
Herbal Studies.
Join me for this comprehensive study of herbalism. You will learn many of the
useful herbs for numerous body systems, learn to make herbal medicines and
experience the magic of being in the garden. Taking this Intensive will provide
you with an excellent working knowledge of how and when to use herbs for health
and well being.
Classes meet on
4 Saturdays and 2 Fridays. 9:30am - 4:30pm (except

Introduction to Herbal Medicine:
Today we will explore the history of herbal medicine and how this health
practice is used in many parts of the world. You’ll learn the various ways of
taking herbal medicine and how they benefit the body. Weather permitting, we’ll
stroll the garden and visit some of Ellen’s Top Ten Herbs suitable for our local
gardens. We’ll also discuss harvesting, preparing and proper storage of herbs.
We’ll enjoy herbal tea and herbal snacks as we get to know each other.

Exploring Herbs
for the Nervous System:
Being a
practicing psycho-therapist for 26 years, I have a special interest and
knowledge regarding Herbs for the Nervous System. Common sense tells you that
if you will brew yourself a pot of herbal tea to help deal with your anxiety,

Learn the basics of organic gardening including design, maintenance, soil

techniques and which plants grow best in our environment. We’ll have the
experience of digging in the soil and planting herb seeds and transplants. As
part of “Sharing the Wisdom of the Plants” I am happy to give each
participant the opportunity to dig and take home any extra plants from my
garden.

Making
In my newly constructed Herb Room we will learn how to make medicinal infusions
and decoctions (teas), healing salves and herbal tinctures. We’ll also discuss

Respectful Herbalism
