Ellen Zimmermann founded the Austin School of
Herbal Studies in 1995. The school is located at Ellen's home,
in her gardens and on her 5-acre botanical sanctuary located in
the Hill Country just south of Austin, Texas. The school offers
a variety of herbal classes including the culinary, medicinal,
skin care and gardening aspects of herbalism.
Ellen facilitates most classes, but she also invites other
Herbalists from the community to teach at her school. She
invites you to register for a class and visit a Central Texas
garden full of medicinal herbs, native plants, wildflowers and
whimsy.
Like our ancestors did,
Ellen is passing on the magic of our earth through
the knowledge of plants. I have never felt such a
blessed connection with herbs as I do now after
being one of her students. It is something I will
carry and pass on throughout my life. Thank you so
much for seeing the herbalist in me !!!Robin
I have been blessed to
spend the past five months plus in Ellen's wise and
loving presence. Among many other things for which
words don't suffice, she has given me the tools and
confidence to reconnect with and trust my own
intuition, and the ability to care for my family and
Self in a grateful and holistic way.Darlene
My apprenticeship with
Ellen was a sweet opening to trusting my own
intuition with plants. Ellen helped me to discover
and appreciate my unique way of learning and being
with the plants. She shares her vast knowledge and
love of plants with a holistic approach to
wellbeing.Julie
Enjoy a glimpse of the
hands-on learning you will experience at the Fall
Herbal Apprentice Program.
This interactive course
promotes group learning, from the teacher as well as
each individual student, as we are all teachers for
one another. My students emerge as a community of
Herbalists who continue ongoing support and
interaction with each other. Truly a community is
built each semester at The Austin School of Herbal
Studies.
In this short video you will
witness us harvesting and blessing Holy Basil and
several apprentices garbling the same plant. You
will see an infusion being made (the proper name for
tea), an infused oil and the making of an herbal
salve. Only some of the herbal medicines your will
learn to prepare during this course. Discover more
by registering soon for the Fall Apprentice program.
See you in the garden.
